Jack Bowman is a versatile English drummer, composer, teacher, and producer. Born in Staffordshire, England, Jack was introduced to music at a young age, stemming from his musical family background. By the age of six, Jack’s family relocated to the region of Normandy, France, where his musical journey truly began.
Early Development and Competitions
Jack’s passion led him to local music schools, where he explored his love for drums and music in general. His talent blossomed over several years whilst he attended lessons in multiple schools. His dedication and skill were evident when, at the age of 14, he competed in the ‘Concours International de Percussions de Cannes’, where he was the youngest in his category but still won 1st prize. This achievement was soon followed by his triumph in the ‘Petites Mains Symphoniques’ competition in 2014, confirming his position as an emerging talent in Jazz.
Education and Influences
In 2016, Jack was accepted to the renowned Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL), where he completed a double diploma over three years. His education at CMDL was marked by interactions with notable musicians and instructors such as Ari Hoenig, Benoit Sourisse, André Charlier, Ben Wendel, Franck Aghulon, Julian Pollack, Davy Honnet, Nick Smart, Mathieu Chazarenc, Minino Garay, Raphaël Imbert, Nicolas Viccaro, and Stephane Huchard, all of whom influenced his musical journey and growth. He graduated in 2019 with a degree in Musicology.
Professional Career and Collaborations
Even as a young musician, Jack was active in the music scene, performing at prominent jazz festivals like Jazz Sous les Pommiers and Jazz en Baie. His early performances covered a wide range of genres, from Jazz and Pop to Hard Rock, showcasing his versatility. Jack has supported an array of esteemed artists and producers in live performances and studio recordings, including Yseult, Eric Chedeville, Tréi Stella, Hughes Aufray, Keyon Harrold, Didier Lockwood, Issara, Nina Attal, Maë Defays, Amaury Vassili, Crystal Petit, Napoleon Maddox, Da Titcha, and Randy Brecker, among others.

In 2014, at just 16, Jack co-founded BAY Custom Drums Ltd with his family, turning a personal vision into a respected brand within the drum-building industry. BAY Custom Drums quickly gained acclaim, securing endorsements from several renowned drummers and becoming known for its innovative designs and quality craftsmanship.
BAY Custom Studios Ltd
In 2019, Jack extended his passion for music and sound with the founding of BAY Custom Studios. The studios offer a comprehensive suite of services, including songwriting, recording, mixing, mastering and music production. With a keen focus on sound engineering and artistic direction, the studios provide a nurturing environment for budding musicians and seasoned artists alike.
Musical Instruction and Teaching Philosophy
With over a decade of experience in the industry, Jack teaches drums, keyboards and music production to students of all ages. His teaching focuses on helping students of all levels discover and develop their musical abilities. Being fluent in both English and French, he is able to accommodate clients from many countries.
